Umagon (a god) and President Maverick Madouri have a conversation.

In this snippet we catch Umagon, a god and celestial dragon, having a conversation with the president of Humanis — a planet similar to Earth — President Maverick Madouri.

In the D.L.M.F. universe, religion has been discouraged by the gods and further outlawed by most planets’ governments due to it causing the destruction of two former planets, Magnus and Hydranus. Maverick is asking why Umagon doesn’t intervene and help to either identify, locate, or detain a group that has been called “The Unholy Church”.

Why can’t you just stop them from worshiping you? Aren’t you all-powerful?

We aren’t all-powerful President Madouri. Not even my father. And even if we were, all-powerful gods wouldn’t need subjects, yet alone ones who worship us for favor. That would be ridiculous, to say the least. Besides, I cannot interfere in all of humankind’s affairs. Some things you have to do yourselves.

You’re a god, Umagon — just call me Maverick, please.

(sarcastically) Yes, Mr. President, Sir!

(President Madouri sighs deeply) Could you at least give me some advice?

Don’t worry so much, and make sure to have another copy of the book for me next time I get back.

You and those comics!

They’re not all comics, Mr. President…

Maverick!

… Maverick… They’re fascinating creations by one of your most wonderfully creative writers. Impetus Comics’ Didier Hewling is one awesome guy.

Whatever…

Your respect for me is so strange. — At one point, you feel too humble for me to call you by your title, and at another you talk to me like an upset child.

That’s what you think is strange? You’re a god who loves reading comic books!

Touché, Mr. President. Touché. On that note, I must be going. I’m off to Cartanesia. I heard that Richard Kilbane is having a little trouble with the Tanner family.

Tell her “chin up” for me.

That’ll help her a lot “L-O-L”

Did you really just say “L-O-L”?

Maybe I do read too many comics, after all. Bye Maverick!

(Umagon zaps away)

Chief Richard Kilbane is the leader of a tribe on another planet called Cartanesia. The leader of the Tanner family, Bastian, is a war-hungry clan leader from a nearby region.

Umagon is heading there to act as a mediator for negotiations between the leaders.

But that’s a story for another post, which will be fully explained in the D.L.M.F. story as a side-mission for a main character.

Until then, thanks for reading!
